About The Digger Cup

The Ryder Cup–style golf outing, organized by Alex D., was sparked by a shared interest in getting the guys together for something fun, competitive, and memorable. The first tournament took place in May 2024 with 16 players and quickly became an annual tradition, now grown to a field of 24. For the first two years, the event was called the “Digi Cup.” The name wasn’t meant to be egotistical — it simply stuck because no better option had emerged.

Beginning in 2026, the tournament will carry a new name: the Digger Cup. Digger played in the first two years and was one of the few who traveled from out of town to be part of it. His commitment was obvious — flying in from Texas each year — though everyone knew it wasn’t just the golf that brought him back. Nearly half the field went to high school with Digger, and those who met him later on always had positive things to say. The only knock on him was being a Dallas Cowboys fan, but we let that slide.

On September 5th, 2025, Digger passed away at the age of 37. As the tournament continues each year, the Digger Cup will honor his memory, his spirit, and the friendships he helped strengthen. His presence shaped the early years of this event, and his legacy will continue to be part of it moving forward.
